Smith Weekend

We went to Smith Rock this weekend!!! So much fun camping and climbing. The first night, Brent and I were the first ones there, and we did not bring firewood, b/c someone else was bringing it. So we sat in the camp chairs, totally dark, staring at the Milky Way and counted seven meteors in about 45 minutes, and many satellites. Tail end of the Perseids? I actually stopped to ask, "when was the last time you had absolutely nothing to do, but sit and watch for shooting stars?" I felt like I was 12 again. That night it was SOOO cold though with temps in the upper 30's. My sleeping bag is rated to 20 degrees, but they LIE!! So I finally fell asleep after listening to coyotes, put my socks & blue jeans back on, curled up in my bag with my puppy next to me. Much better.

Both Saturday & Sunday were leisurely climb days without anything too scary. Brent climbed his first multi pitch, and lead 4 of 5 pitches. Way to go!!
