Bend/Sunriver Trip

So I spent the weekend in Sunriver/Bend at my boss' gorgeous house.
Bumpy start though - got off work late.
Left the house 2 hours later than planned on Friday.
Managed to spin out for the first time (ever) in the Subaru on Santiam Pass. Did a 180 on the highway. I have never done that before. Luckily it was late enough there was no traffic and all ended well.
Then get to the cabin. Gorgeous!! Walk through the house to the back, let Dolly Mae out, look around on the deck. Go back to the door and it's locked. Yup. It's 10:30, and I am locked out of the house, in a sweater (it's 28 outside). No car keys, house keys or phone. Luckily, D had his cell phone and we called my boss and had a rental company deliver a key 45 minutes later.

Picture of Mt. Tumalo from Mt. Bachelor.

Tomorrow is another day... We meet up with D's friends and hike up Mt. Tumalo. 1.5 mile hike, 1400ft vertical, summit at 7700ft. D and I are on snowshoes, towing our board/skis. His buddies are on a split board with skins, no fair!! When we get to the summit, there is a bowl off the backside with fresh powder, fresh tracks, bluebird day!! But then you had to hike back up the ridge... ugh!! Still worth it. Think I am going to have to do more backcountry skiing!!

After hiking the ridge, I was dying!! SOOO hot and sweaty. I had to take it off, despite freezing temps. It felt SOOO good.

That night - D planned the night and we started with Cinder Kittens Roller Derby vs Southern Oregon. Different than Rose City Rollers. A little slower, a little more dirty. More hip checks. Then dinner at Joolz - super tasty Lebanese, then off to the Summit for some tasty brew. I could barely keep my eyes open I was so tired from the day.

Next Day - Mt. Bachelor. Summit chair was open and we skied/boarded for 4 hours solid. Man are the runs long on Bachelor!! My quads were on fire!! I will sleep well tonight.

My boss' house in Sunriver. Beautiful log cabin with a hot tub on the back deck and a dock on the Deschutes River. I wish we had spent a little more time at the cabin to enjoy it! Another trip.
